Virtualize All !

Hello everyone, let’s have a small talk about the future of technology!...hahaha don’t worry I’ll not talk about technology in 2050 but for the upcoming boom in the market probably in next 2-5 years!

So let’s start it up… You all must have heard about the cloudcomputing & I quiet sure that you all must have used it too, in your smartphone & phablets!

Let’s come over to another fascinating branch of technology VIRTUALIZATIONAs the name suggest it means something which is not there & u feel like it’s there…very common eg. The floor of swimming pool..it looks shallow than it actually is…this is the virtual position of the floor! So you all must be thinking what the hell floor can do to my computer…..wait Ladies & Gentleman ..you’ll come to know very soon…!

So let’s start with the formal definition of Virtualization…In computing Virtualization means creation of a virtual version of Storage, Hardware, OS or Network resources.

    • Software Virtualization!
    It is the virtualization of applications or computer programs. We can broadly classify it into 3 category

    1.) OS- level virtualization
    In this we can host multiple virtualized environment in a single instance, it’s like you have an organization working 24 x 7 & having 2 different shifts..both the employee need different software’s…what will you do…set up different labs for both shift….Not at all, I’ll not let you waste so much money, believe me just set up a powerful server load all the software’s in two slots(Let it be slot 1 & slot 2 for shift 1 & shift 2 respectively).
    Then you can migrate the slots from server to the machines via Ethernet & it’s all done…every entry made by the employee will be updated in the server & there you can suitable apply RAID or other backup mechanism for data backup, check redundancy & crash recovery…
    For shift 2 migrate slot 2 to the same machine..now they’ll get all the softwares they want..& you saved lots of money in setting up & maintaining other lab!
    Isn’t this amazing..yes this is the future of technology..to be precise near future!

    OS level Virtualization

    2.) Application Virtualization
    It is related to hosting individual application separated from his OS…yes it’s possible to install your application on the virtual hard drive using this concept…imagine you install hefty Fry Cry 3 or GTA Vice City 5 on virtual hard drive & play it on your system!

    3.) Service Virtualization
    It means emulating the characteristics of user components that are needed to execute an application for development or testing purpose…It’s like you develop an App for App Store & for it’s testing you need an ipad or iphone…but you used service Virtualization & got the characteristics of ipad or iphone on your machine!!

    • Data Virtualization
    By this we can access the data with the use of single data access layer!

    • Desktop or Client Virtualization
    It separating the desktop from the physical layer.

    • Network Virtualization (NV)
    Here the network is divided into many parts to provide NV by combining network resources such as NICs, Firewalls, VLANs, Load Balancers, Storage devices, Ethernet, Here thr ehhereherSwitches, Fiber Cables as well as network functionality into one single unit, Software-based network administrative entity. In internal network, a host is configured with guest contains to create a virtual network in a box. In external NV, network are shared or sub-divided into virtual network using VLANs & switches.

    Network Virtualization

    • Hardware Virtualization
    It refers to the creating an environment for virtual machine. It is broadly divided into three category namely:-

    1.) Full Virtualization

    In full virtualization Operating system instance & its application runs in separate virtual machine on virtual hardware. The virtual hardware is available with the same characteristics as the physical computer system.
    Full virt. is again of two types:-
    a.) Bare metal:- In this the hypervisor runs on the underlying hardware without a hosted OS.

    b.) Hosted Virtualization:- In this the hypervisor runs on the top of hosted OS(like linux or windows).

    2.) Partial Virtualization
    The virtual machine stimulates multiple instances of much of an underlying hardware environment- specifically, address spaces-but not the entire OS.

    3.) Para Virtualization
    Is a technique that represent a s/w interface to virtual machine that is similar. But not identical to the underlying h/w resources.

    • OpenVZ - Create Secure Linux Servers
    This is an open source product available under GNU GPL(General Public License) & container based virt. solution for linux. It creates multiple isolated & secure Linux Server known as Virtual Private Servers (VPS) not to confuse with VPN. Each VPS perform & execute instruction exactly like a stand-alone server. A VPS has root access, users, processes, memory, IP addressing, files, system libraries, apps, ports & routing rules.
    So how do openVZ containers differ from the traditional virtual machine architecture? Well, they run on the same OS kernel as the host system, but allow multiple Linux variants in individual containers. The single-kernel implementation enable running containers with much less overhead. Hence, OpenVZ offer higher efficiency and management than traditional virtualization technologies. It uses a single patched Linux kernel, and as a result can run only linux and doesn’t have the overhead of a hypervisor (a tiny part of CPU resources is used on virtual section -around 1-2 %),it’s faster & efficient.

    Secure Matters !

    OpenVZ Features

    OpenVZ uses a single kernel(linx) & is as stable as Linux kernel.
    Overhead is very low.
    Live migration of VPS & the checkpoint features allows users to migrate to shut down the VPS.
    Resource management allows OpenVZ to share available host system resources among VPSs in an efficient manner;it guarantee QoS- not only providing performance, resource isolation & protection form denial of service attack, but also collection usage information to monitor the system’s health .
    By default, direct access to hardware is not available.
    OpenVZ has undergone thorough security audit, which was performed by Solar Designer.
    IPsec is supported inside container since kernel version 2.6.32
    OpenVZ technology scan have thousands of CPU & terabytes of Ram.

    I am quiet sure by now a clear & concise picture must have been formed in your mind….about the virtual world with a pinch of technical terms…Hope you enjoyed it.

    Hello everyone…I have chosen this topic, on the overwhelming demand of the audience to know more about the emerging race of Smartphone and the Phablet!

    The Phablet got its name from the PHONE + TABLET. The Phablet got its form after the marriage of smartphone & a tablet! The mobility of a Phone & the wide screen of a tablet make it perfect for the net freak audience. I remember earlier the definition of a wide screen means range between 3.7 – 4 inches & it was quite inmate with the fact that people believed 4” is an ideal ergonomic design for amobile device

    Have a Phablet Look

  • But SAMSUNG broke the dogmas by launching a Samsung Galaxy Note in late 2011 with > 5 inches touch screen. This single move of SAMSUNG created a giant leap in the IT industry and from there only race for the Phablet started. Contrary to the critics, this gesture of Samsung gave best of both world experiences to the audience & managed to sell about 10 million units of Galaxy Note!

    According to the latest report of  ABI Research The Phablet has proved to be a great success with a growth rate of 4,504% yes ladies & gentleman 4,504% in 2012 alone reaching 83 million units & Korea based company Samsung is making prediction that the shipment  will increase to 175 million units i.e. double of prev. year sell.

    Samsung launched the Galaxy Note after the launch of Apple iPad (tablet with 10 inches touch screen), this soon captured the market & America’s all time AAA rated company decided to launch iPad2…no doubt Apple for first in race to initiate the concept of Tablet!
    Interestingly Steve Jobs on the launching platform criticized the 7” tablet & was in different opinion with the world…but in the year 2012 Apple launched 7” iPad mini…The reason for quoting this example is not to criticize giant Apple. If this the mgs you got them i am guilty of delivering faulty mgs & you of selective learning…this incident is narrated to tell you the need of the market…that 7” have ruled the mind of audience that is the reason why Apple has to reconsider its policies & launch iPad mini.

    No doubt Samsung is responsible for the Phablet existence…now other tier one brands like Sony & HTC are in race too. New companies like Micro max, Karbonn, LAVA, Spice and other have at least 1 Phablet in their Portfolio. Micromax claims all units of canvas 2 which was launched couple of months ago has been sold out & is planning to launch a new version.
    Initially The Phablet was priced above $549 but now one can get them under $399. Homegrown companies can arrange one for you in less than $299. Samsung has one with the price tag of $399.

    Now all must be thinking that why sale has grown so high of the Phablet, the initial sales were definitely about the “bigger is best” thing. The Phablet offers more reliability and realistic vision than any other phone or smart phone. Having a bigger screen means less scrolling while reading mail & the marvelous stylus of Samsung works like a magic stick. Just move it & get it done & ideal for making notes & the Picture DJ’s!! Note II has the best style. Big chassis offer bigger battery, which adds to the advantage of The Phablet!

    Main thing matters is Large display
    SIze/Resolution

    We all know every coin have 2 phases same is the case with The Phablet…you get all the benefits listed above but the device is too big if you have tiny hands & may require  both hands to type or dialing a number unlike regular sized smartphones. These devices find it difficult to fit in pocket of a pair of skinny denim jeans 7 portability make it an issue. Although these feature provide tremendous features but one should decide well whether he really needs the device or not!

    If one check mails, Fb, Twitter, LinkedIn & occasionally Internet Browsing The Phablet is an overkill…..ya if one does lot of note taking, browsing, checking documents and the alike then this device is for you & go for it…..& not to forget with an artistic streak, who like to sketch & scribble notes or random doodles-a device like the Galaxy Note II is a perfect fit for them!
    Compare the sizes

    However, not every big device is better and there are few things which should be kept in mind like the resolution (800 x 480) display will add little to big screen & give a feel like a 4 inches smart phone, so always look for 720p HD or higher. Another key point is the battery…it’s not at all necessary that a big chassis will always home a big battery so always look out the specification & choose accordingly. Practically at least 70% of what company claims is received. Considering the display often is the most battery consuming element of smartphone, having a bigger display with a regular battery just won’t do the trick.

    Most important is that one should hold the device in hand & see if it’s comfortable or not & can replace a smartphone.. & last but not the least ensure that your trousers have bespoke pockets to fit these big devices!!

    Apple Vs Samsung!

    ·       US “AAA” rated company APPLE finally got the justice in Federal court in san Jose, California.
    ·        Samsung was found to have infringed upon 6 of 7 Apple patents, 21 samsung products face ban.
    ·        Scrolling (bounceback & rubber band effect), pinch-to-zoom & tap to zoom centering capability; distinguishing between single & multi-touch; one-fingered scrolling.

    Actually what happened is that -In August 2010,  few months after Samsung launched its Galaxy smartphone, a team of Apple lawyers flew to South Korea(where Samsung is having its own store).

    Apple's late co-founder, Steve Jobs, had already told Samsung executives at a meeting that he considered the Galaxy S, based on Google's Android operating system, an illegal copy of the iPhone. But Apple had given the extensive business ties between the two companies - Samsung is one of Apple's key component suppliers - a negotiated solution seemed most likely.
    Now after extension is over Apple took this issue to Court. Point targeted against Samsung by apple -  Galaxy S, based on Google's Android operating system, an illegal copy of the iPhone.The case is ruled and found out that Apple iPhone’s front, back & home screen copied by Samsung, Apple violated two Samsung technology patents, while Samsung violated one Apple patent. It awarded small damages to both and banned both companies' infringing smartphones and tablet PCs, few of which are currently in stores in South Korea.

    s        In future Galaxy S, Galaxy S||. Nexus S, Mesmerize, Vibrant, Nexus S smartphones, Galaxy Tab & Tab 10.1 may be banned in in US. But the good thing is that S3 not affected.

    Finally, the jury awarded Apple $1.05 billion in damages, which could be tripled as the jury found Samsung acted willfully. Samsung could now face a costly ban on sales of key smartphone and tablet products.

    Using torrent is not illegal. Sharing of copyright information is. Having said that, if you are a torrent user & are fed up of internet service provider (ISP) clamping down on torrent speeds or are wary about your privacy being compromised(because of over-zealous media industry watchdogs), you should consider services like www.peerblock.com & www.btguard.com. BTGuard, paid services completely hides your computer’s IP address & provides a secure, encrypted route for your torrent data.  Peerblock is open source and works in conjunction with www.iblocklist.com. It essentially block your computer’s communication with advertising or spyware oriented servers, computers monitoring torrents or computers which have been hacked (botnets).

    Rain- proof your gadgets
    ü  You must avoid talking on the phone while walking in the rains even with an umbrella. Or use the headphones while taking a call in the rain.
    ü  Avoid keeping your phone in the pant pockets & keep them in your hand bags instead.
    ü  If your phone gets wet, remove the battery & dry the phone with a mild blow drier.
    ü  Keep your laptops safe in laptop cases & avoid talking it out too much in the rains.
    ü  Do not keep your laptop bags in damp areas. Get them periodically checked in rainy season especially.
    ü  Cameras also need to be taken care of in the rainy season. Use a soft dry cloth to wipe off the water from the lens.
    ü  Rice is better in removing water particles or absorbing moisture. Put your wet phone or gadget in sifted rice & close it. Longer the phone or electronics device in rice drier the device will get. Approximately one day is sufficient to dry the phone or camera. You can leave gadget I rice for more than a day but make sure rice is dust proof.
    ü  Keep devices unplugged when not in use in order to avoid short circuit & shocks.
    ü  Keep gadgets in plastic cover for extra protection & take special care for touchscreen devices as they are more prone to damage.
    ü  Remove the batteries of all the devices when not in use. This is especially true for the monsoon season that can damage devices.

    STRUCTURE OF C :-
    #include <headerfile1.h>#include <headerfile2.h>...#include <headerFILE.h>global declarationsreturn-type main(parameter list){statement sequence}return-type function1(parameter list)
    {
    statement sequence
    }
    return-type function2(parameter list)
    {
    statement sequence
    }
    .
    .
    .
    return-type funcTION(parameter list)
    {
    statement sequence
    }
    NOTE: Statements in 'C' are terminated with  a SEMI-COLON (;)
    Structural Analysis :-
    1. #include <headerFILE.h>
    Header Files are pre-processor directives that are already present in a folder named "include" that comes with C compiler. They all carry the extension .h and contain functions that have already been provided to the programmer to perform some specific task. For eg.
    (a) stdio.h is a header file that contains the Standard Input/Output functions that are needed for basic input/output operations in the program.
    (b) conio.h is a header file that deals with the Console Input/Output operations,i.e. dealing with the display on the Console (monitor) when the program is run.
    (c) math.h is a header file that provides functions which help in mathematical operations.
    2. global declarations
    Global declarations are the values that can be used in the complete program or package created. These values and attributes declared globally can be accessed by  all the functionc and modules created inside the program.
    3.  return-type main(parameter list)
    'return-type' is the type of value returned by the function.
    'main' is special. Our program begins executing at the beginning of main. This means that every program must have a main somewhere. main will usually call other functions to help perform its job, some that you wrote, and others from libraries that are provided for us. 'parameter list' - One method of communicating data between functions is for the calling function to provide a list of values, called arguments, to the function it calls. The parentheses after the function name surround the argument list. In this example, main is defined to be a function that expects no arguments, which can be indicated by the empty list ( ).
    NOTE- A C program, whatever its size, consists of functions and variables. A function  contains statements that specify the computing operations to be done, and variables store values used during the computation.
    The statements of a function are enclosed in braces { }.
    Some of the commonly used functions in 'C' are-
    1. printf()
    This is a function which is used to get the output as a display on the monitor. The arguments passed to this funtion is displayed as an output. It is a library function which is stored in the header file 'stdio.h'.
    2. scanf()
    This is a function which is used to get the input from the user. The arguments passed to this funtion are taken as an input. It is a library function which is stored in the header file 'stdio.h'.
    3. getch()
    Generally to hold the output screen on the monitor Alt+F5 is used. Or an alternate way is to use getch() function which is used for the same purpose. It is a library function and is stored in the header file 'conio.h'.
    Another function getche() can also be used for the same purpose. The main difference between the two is that the key pressed to return back from the output screen is displayed along with the main output display in the case of getche().
    4. clrscr()
    This is a library function that is used to clear the output screen and is defined in the header file 'conio.h'.
    Note- The character strings are usually placed inside the double quotes ("..."). The sequence \n in the string is C notation for the newline character, which when printed advances the output to the left margin on the next line. Notice that \n represents only a single character. An escape sequence like \n provides a general and extensible mechanism for representing hard-to-type or invisible characters. Among the others that C provides are \t for tab, \b for backspace, \" for the double quote and \\ for the backslash itself.
    Also note that any characters between /* and */ are ignored by the compiler; they may be used freely to make a program easier to understand.
    DATA TYPES are the types of data that tells the types of values that the variable can store, the type of data that can be dealt with and the associated functions of handling it.
    Flow of Control-
    1. Sequential control- It is the default flow of control in the program of 'C'.
    2. Conditional control- It is the flow of control  that depends upon a condition test. For eg. if-else, switch-case.
    SYNTAX:
    (a) if-else
    if (condition)
    {...
    ...}
    else
    {...
    ...}
    (b) switch-case
    switch(testing condition)
    {case 1: ...
               ... break;
    case 2: ...
              ... break;
    case ..
    ..
    ..
    default: ...
    }
    Note: The conditional or looping statements can be nested also. For further details, kindly Contact us and let us know your queries.
    We'll surely respond as soon as possible.
    3. Iterative control- It is the flow of control that repeats itself depending upon a condition test. For eg. for, while, do-while..
    SYNTAX:
    (a) for(initialising statement; condition test; update statement)
    { ...
    ... statements to be executed repeatedly...(body of loop)
    ..
    }

    (b) while(condition test)
    {..
    ...
    body of loop...
    ..}

    (c) initialising statement
    do
    {...
    ...
    ..body of loop...
    ..}
    while(condition test);
